Products ?@ and ?B are preparations of oxidized cotton/gauze. Product ?A is a spongy gelatin preparation. When exposed to blood, these preparations form a dark brown/black mass, which immediately adheres to bleeding foci and achieves hemostasis.
Indications: Hemorrhage from wounds, nose bleed, and hemorrhage after tooth extraction.
Dosage: 1. Wounds should be disinfected sufficiently before treated with these preparations.
2. A bleeding wound should be covered with the gauze-type preparation. In the presence of massive hemorrhage, the wound should be compressed slightly and bandaged.
3 A wound cavity should not be packed with too much of the cotton-type preparation because it swells after absorbing blood.
4 An oral antibiotic should be administered when a wound is severely contaminated and will probably become infected even if it is disinfected thoroughly.
5 After hemostasis is achieved, these preparations will be absorbed spontaneously and do not need to be removed.
Precautions: These preparations should be handled aseptically. Any unused portion remaining in an opened package should discarded.
